Community Care Befriending Outreach Volunteer

Latin American House is a community based organisation that is currently recruiting Befriending Outreach volunteers. The volunteer will provide support for Spanish and Portuguese speaking vulnerable and isolated adults in their homes and/or in immigration detention centers. For those who are interested, there are opportunities to provide advice (welfare benefits, access to healthcare, etc) as well as befriending.

Successful applicants should have:

• A keen interest in the Latin American community
• Strong commitment, flexibility and compassion
• Good knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese
• The ability to maintain client records and communicate feedback during outreach meetings
• A commitment of at least one afternoon per week with a minimum 3 months
• A willingness to travel around London; travel expenses will be paid
