Drama Workshop – Introduction to Acting: Pre-texts for Acting

What is the course about?

¿De qué se trata el curso?

Pre-text for acting is a workshop where the students will learn the elementary components of the dramatic structure through improvisation and games. It is an space where we will develop small scenes through some short theatrical pre-text and where the development of our creativity will be a pretext for acting.

Pre-textos para hacer teatro es un curso dónde se aprenderán los componentes básicos de la estructura dramática a través de la improvisación y el juego. Es un espacio dónde desarrollaremos escenas a partir de unos breves pre-textos teatrales incompletos y dónde el desarrollo de la creatividad será un pretexto para hacer teatro.

Target group:

Destinatarios:

Spanish speaking students (native or at least B2 level in Spanish) of all ages (18+), with/without acting experience

Hispanohablantes (nativos o como mínimo con un nivel B2 en español) y mayores de 18 años, con o sin experiencia en actuación.

Entry requirements:

Requisitos:

Be able to read a script and/or related text in Spanish, work within groups and pairs safely, listen and respond instructions and feedbacks, willing to use body in corporal activities.

Son requisitos mínimos para ingresar al curso: Poder leer un texto, poder trabajar en grupo o en pares, poder escuchar y responder a consignas y estar dispuesto a la actividad corporal.

· The dramatic structure and its components according with Konstantin Stanislavski´s Physical Action Method.

· Basic exercises and principles of the technique on improvisations and simple texts.

· La estructura dramática y sus componentes según el Métedo de las Acciones Físicas de Konstantin Stanislavski

· Ejercicios básicos y principios técnicos en improvisaciones y breves textos.

Drama Workshop in Spanish

This workshop is a chance to practice your Spanish (or to use your native Spanish language) while learning to express yourself in drama with movement, gestures, creativity, emotion and games as well as words, working together to develop your own creativity and communication skills.

Coordinator: Germán D’Alessandro

GERMÁN D’ALESSANDRO is an Argentinian theatre director (specialized in Drama Teaching and Social Psychology) who, for several years in Buenos Aires and London, has been teaching drama and Spanish language through drama activities.

His project have been supported by the Argentine Embassy, Spanish Embassy, Cervantes institute and London Mayor. In 2009, he won a UK lottery grant to explore psychodrama as a model for facilitating social to inspire leadership and enterprises through drama activities. Most recently, Germán has coordinated activities to commemorate the bicentenary of Latin American independence and delivered workshops to young adults in a pan-European summer school in Essex.

This workshop will be led in Spanish.

From October 2011 the immigration work at Latin American House will include appeal work. This will be delivered by Tikwiza Nkowane.

Latin American House is currently recruiting an admin volunteer. The volunteer will provide support for the administration coordinator in a number of different administrative and organizational tasks.

Successful applicants should have:

• A keen interest in the Latin American community
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese
• Good level of word-processing and internet research skills
• A commitment of at least two days per week with a minimum 3 months
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently
