Women Entrepreneurs at Latin American House

Latin American House is excited to introduce WE-LAH Club, a permanent support and education platform to empower UK-based Latinx women with small businesses.

We know that starting and maintaining a small business in the UK, as a Latinx woman and in a foreign language, may feel like an intimidating and isolating experience. The purpose of WE-LAH Club is to create a safe space and network in which Latinx women can come together and give each other support and companionship, receive advice and feedback on their projects, and acquire more knowledge about the things that make a small business a fulfilling experience.

Why Join WE-LAH Club?

The benefits of joining the club include:

  • Make new friends and become part of a sorority of women that are facing similar challenges than you.
  • Access to monthly Masterclasses: workshops and talks taking place on the last Thursday of every month with guest speakers who specialize in different areas of entrepreneurship  (marketing, taxes, branding, self-promotion, etc.) After each talk or workshop, the group gets together to talk in turns about the challenges they are currently facing in their businesses and give each other feedback. The Masterclasses take place in person at Latin American House but are also transmitted through Zoom for those who live outside of London.
  • Access to our Support Cafes: these sessions take place on the second Tuesday of each month exclusively through Zoom. The first part of the session is dedicated to answering questions previously sent by the members about different aspects of entrepreneurship. The second part of the session is dedicated to analyze case studies of the business of the members to collectively help them to face current challenges.
  • Become part of the first Directory of Latin American Women Entrepreneurs in the UK: located on the Latin American House website, the Directory will be a page available to everyone with a list of the businesses, their information, website and social media channels.
  • Become part of the Annual Fair of WE-LAH Club and other trade spaces: Once per year in the summer we will organize a trade fair at our premises in Latin American House in which you will be invited to trade with your business. Opportunities to trade in other big events organized across London will also be offered through the year.
  • Visibility for your business in our digital channels: special mentions of your business in Latin American House’s social media, blog and newsletter through the year.
  • Social events: parties and exclusive events where the members of the club can come together, relax and get social.

Who can join the club?

The club welcomes all UK-based self-identified Latin American women (including trans women) with a small business. It doesn’t matter what your business is or if you are just starting or if you have been trading for a while. Maybe you sell your crafts online, or sell food occasionally, or have a little shop somewhere in the city – everybody is welcome.

A good domain of Spanish is essential, as the sessions will be mostly facilitated in that language.

Women who are not based in London can also join the club, as all sessions will be livestreamed

The Cafes Formativos and the Sesiones de Acompañamiento will take place at 10:30 am, allowing mom entrepreneurs to join while the kids are at school.

All you need to join is a will to connect, make new friends, give and receive support, and commitment to participate in the sessions.

The membership has a fee of £10 p/m for London-based members, and £5 p/m for members based outside of London. Going through hard times? Email us and we can talk about our available concessions.
